TITLE: Beverage Manager DEPARTMENT: Food Division
REPORTS TO: Area Director, Foods Division
BASIC FUNCTION: The Beverage Manager assumes responsibility in running an efficient, professional, safe and profitable beverage department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Follows and ensures team follows Food Division Standards and Best Practices.
· Is accountable for sales, expenses and bottom-line profits and/or gross margin.
· Demonstrate a positive role model for STAR standards of customer service.
· Role-model beverage sales and service, maintain the wine shop along with all beverage service areas to meet food division standards.
· Manage beverage control including: days on hand, bar pars, portion control, costs controls, pricing, beverage mix, issue & returns.
· Meet with vendors on regular basis to select product assortment, ensure product newness and negotiate price.
· Manages the wine and beverage sales in compliance with all local, state and Federal beverage and liquor laws.
· Establish and maintain strong working relationship with store management.
· Works with store Human Resources office to coordinate all hiring, recruiting, termination and employee relations resolution.
· Monitors and documents employee performance, and delivers employee performance appraisals.
· Maintain role model standards in grooming and professional appearance and communications.
· Meet highest standards of workplace sanitation/equipment care and safety as set by Health Department and company policy. Ensure team is trained on and follows safe work practices.
· Utilize daily sales reports and weekly food cost and payroll reports to ensure monthly profit/loss goals are met.
· Provide education to staff on new products including wine and food pairings.
· Completes timely payment of invoices according to vendor contracts and Food Division Best Practices.
· Completes product inventories following Inventory Best Practices to ensure they are taken on a timely and accurate basis to ensure targeted beverage and liquor costs are maintained.
· Ensures the coordination and execution of special events and central-driven promotional strategies.
· Provide ongoing coaching and recognition to increase team’s performance.
· Ability to follow safe work practices in a fast-paced environment.
· All duties and responsibilities support achievement of food division financial results and a professional food service organization.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
A. REQUIRED
· Previous hospitality/food service experience
· Previous supervisory/management experience
· Exceptional communication and interactive skills
· Understanding of P&L statements, food/beverage costs and payroll budgets
· Effective computer skills
· Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment
· Experienced at training and motivating teams
· Analytical and organizational skills
· Food/beverage/wine knowledge
· Effective computer skills
· Ability to use the POS terminal, ring sales accurately, and control flow of cash and record cash accurately
· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
B. PREFERRED
· College degree or determined equivalent
· 1 - 2 years Sommelier experience or 3 - 5 years of related experience
· Spanish communicationCertification in sanitation and safe food handling practices
